The Alexander Technique has a long history dating back to the early 1900s. Practitioners help their students learn how to move freely and naturally, with a strong connection to the mind and body relationship. In each lesson we will learn a series of steps to connect the mind and body to work together as you move. I offer introductory classes to learn about the technique but to become a practitioner and gain mastery, I suggest taking a 6 week course to learn and practice the technique.
They say the hardest part of change is not the idea, but the actual work of the transition and often times we just switch out one bad habit with another. How do we eradicate a bad habit? How do we truly evolve? How do we free ourselves from pain and stress? There are plenty of factors that cause us pain and tension, but what many of us don’t realize is that much of that stress and tension is caused by the way we react and move. When we learn to understand these relationships – between our mindful actions and our body movements, it is miraculous how much stress we can release. It is astounding how we can shift into a new habit and truly feel free. Our body systems: our respiratory system, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, and digestive systems all benefit.
In utilizing the technique you will learn to:
- Move freely with more ease
- Release pain and stiffness in your joints
- Alleviate stress and inflammation
- And if applicable, to assist in the healing and management of any pain and tension you may be experiencing
